Bible Bowl!
This coming Sunday is our kickoff for Bible Bowl preparation for the 2026 season.  We will be studying the books of Joshua (1-11, 24) Judges (1-16) and Ruth.  We will be meeting from 2p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  We will be reading the books, taking notes on key names, places and numbers and then take a break.  We usually have a brief test afterwards and a snack.  There are only 13 meetings this year, fewer than previous years.  If you miss more than 5 meetings you will not be able to travel.  We have 3 competitions this year.    The first one is at Winterfest in Flagstaff Arizona on January 24. This will be just over chapter placement and Joshua.  It will be a short online competition with a paper test backup.  The next is at Mesa Arizona on March 5 over all the material.  The we will be competing against a Texas church in San Antonio TX on March 20-23 and staying  with George’s youth group outside of San Antonio.  We will go to Six Flags and take in the sights of San Antonio.  It should be a fantastic way to end our Bible Bowl season.  I hope you will consider participating this year, it will be fun and different, and we will have to raise a ton of money to cover everyone’s expenses,  If you have never done Bible Bowl I think you will enjoy it and make new friends as well, not to mention learn about Joshua, Judges and Ruth!

Fall Retreat
The deadline for the Fall retreat is Sunday, September 14 to take advantage of the $55 early bird price.  After Sunday, the price goes up to $70.  We will have to purchase food and plan for transportation.  If you have not picked up a retreat brochure, please do so today.  We want EVERYONE in the youth group to go.  We leave after school on Friday, September 19 and return Sunday afternoon.  There is plenty of time to do your homework before school on Monday.  We have several groups from camp that will be there, Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, and Albuquerque.  I hope everyone will consider going,  if you are afraid that you will not have
the money, please let me know if we can get you a scholarship.  I think everyone will be blessed by the weekend, the theme is “Half-Hearted”   Don’t miss it!

Puppets
Since Bible Bowl is starting up this Sunday, puppets will be moved to right after the 3rd service worship so from about 12:15-1:30 p.m.  I will get some food for everyone and then we will practice until Bible bowl starts or just after 1:30 p.m. to give you a break before Bible Bowl.  We will rehearsal on  Sunday September 7th, and our final rehearsal will be on September 14 so there are only 2 more rehearsals.  A big thankyou to all those who have volunteered to serve the community.  If you are not doing bible bowl, please have your parents pick you up at 2 p.m.  I also would like to thank Traci Rede for repairing the puppets.  They where made om 1985 so they are 40 years old and coming apart.  I appreciate Traci keeping them looking great!

One of the positive things is that more parents are doubling up and working together.   If you are interested in going on the fall retreat, I will put you to work in the kitchen.  I have Beth Denney in charge of heading that up, although everyone is working together, just let me know if you are interested.  The retreat will be a great weekend.  We are at Mountain View Christian Camp and the deadline for the retreat is September 14.  After that, the cost goes up from $55 to $70.  It looks like we are off to a great semester.  Kaydin and Damien are teaching middle school starting this Wednesday and I will be teaching on Revelation with the high school.  Thanks for your support, God Bless, David
